Miriam Levy -O’Reilly – The History of Crotta House (on the site of the historic Stack family estate)

Miriam Levy -O’Reilly writes:

”Crotta Estate in Kilflynn, Co. Kerry, now only a ruin it was once a mansion of two storeys and a basement. It had seven bays and two projecting wings of one bay each. Crotta is in the civil parish of Kilflynn, which was once called Stackstown. Still to this day a nearby mountain is called Stacks Mountain. My ancestors ‘the Stacks’, once owned Crotta and its surrounding lands. The Estate had included all lands from Crotta to Stacks mountain. It had come to the Stacks by marriage with a Celtic ruling family”.
